The Greenville Area Parkinson Society (GAPS) began as a social network in the early 1990's and became an official non-profit 501(c)3 in 2012. The main goal of co-founders W. Stanton Smith and Patrick Sullivan was to offer support, education and advocacy for the people of Greenville who walk with this disease progression. Since its inception, GAPS has grown to members, and we continue to walk with them! We focus our resources on offering support to people with Parkinson's (PWP) in the Upstate and their caregivers as they learn to cope with the challenges and obstacles of living with PD. While we do not raise funds for research, we offer many programs that focus on wellness for PWP's and their caregivers, including exercise classes, social hours, support groups, speaker seminars and more.
